Introduction

In Ayurveda, Mica Bhasma, also known as “Abhrak Bhasma,” is a finely processed ash obtained from mica, a mineral rich in various beneficial elements.  Mica Bhasma is revered in Ayurvedic medicine for its powerful rejuvenating (Rasayana) properties, making it an essential component in treatments aimed at enhancing vitality, longevity, and overall health.

According to Ayurvedic texts, Mica Bhasma is believed to balance the three doshas—Vata, Pitta, and Kapha—promoting equilibrium within the body. It is commonly used to treat respiratory issues, digestive disorders, and chronic conditions like anemia, asthma, and tuberculosis. Additionally, Mica Bhasma is valued for its role in boosting the immune system, improving energy levels, and supporting mental clarity. Its therapeutic benefits are attributed to its high mineral content, which provides nourishment at a cellular level, aiding in the body’s natural healing processes.

Preparation Process

First Method (Sahasraputi Ashraka Bhasma)— Pure Dhanyabheshaja (medicinal herbs) from the following 73 herbs should be selected according to availability. Each herb is given 16 rounds of infusion (bhavana), a process where herbs are ground in their own juices to absorb their medicinal properties. After completing 1000 puffs (पुट)—which refer to cycles of controlled heating and cooling—the mixture is processed. The small tablets made at the end of each infusion are dried under the sun. Once dried, the tablets are sealed in a container and subjected to Gajaput Agni, a unit of intense heat used in Ayurvedic preparations.

If additional medicines for a specific disease need to be infused (bhavana), this can also be done. If preparing Abhrak Bhasma (Mica Ash) for long-term effectiveness, the herbs given for infusion should not be reduced in quality or quantity.

Additional herbs for infusion include:

•Cow’s milk

•Dudhara’s milk

•Arjuna bark juice

•Aloe Vera juice

•Nagarmotha (Cyperus rotundus) decoction

•Vidanga (Embelia ribes) decoction

•Bilva leaf juice

•Goat’s milk

•Ashwagandha root juice

•Pippali (long pepper) decoction

•Many other juices and decoctions as listed.

The infusion process is repeated for 1000 puffs. In Ayurveda, a puff (पुट) refers to a cycle of heating the material in a kiln or fire, cooling it, and then repeating the process. These repeated cycles help purify and transform the material into bhasma (ash). If gold tablets are calcined with Kema-Gajaput, even after 300-400 puffs, the shine of the mica remains. However, by giving it the correct 7 puffs, the mica ash is completely purified.

For dosage, Ayurvedic physicians often use ratti, a traditional unit of weight where 1 ratti equals 182 milligrams. The bhasma should be given in precise doses according to the patient’s condition.

This process ensures that the bhasma is well-prepared for medicinal purposes. If needed, specific herbs can be added for particular disease treatments, but excess puffs should be avoided to maintain the bhasma’s effectiveness.

This version includes the explanations of puffs, ratti, and Gajaput Agni to give a clearer understanding of the traditional Ayurvedic units and processes. Let me know if you need further modifications!

Standard Dosage: 0.3 to 2 ratti (54.6 mg to 364 mg), twice a day.

Second Method— (100 Puffs):

Pure Dhanyabhrak (medicinal mica) is processed with the juices of Aak’s milk (Calotropis), Euphorbia’s milk, Datura leaf juice, banana stem juice, Chitrak (Plumbago) decoction, Shatavari (Asparagus) decoction, Gokhru (Tribulus) decoction, Kauch (Mucuna) decoction, Giloy (Tinospora cordifolia) juice, Nagarmotha (Cyperus rotundus) juice, cow’s milk, cow’s urine, Aloe Vera juice, and Banyan sprouts decoction. After grinding these with the mica for 12 hours, small tablets are made and dried in the sun. They are then sealed in a container and subjected to Gajaput Agni (intense heating). Repeating this process with 7 puffs for each herb results in 105 puffs of purified Abhrak Bhasma. In the absence of Sahasraputi (1000 puffs), this bhasma can be used.

Dosage and Usage— Same as per the first method.

Third Method— (40 Puffs Abhrak Bhasma):

Pure Dhanyabhrak is processed with Nagarmotha decoction, Punarnava (Boerhaavia diffusa) juice, Kasondi (Cassia occidentalis) leaf juice, Nagarmotha (Betel leaf) juice, Aak (Calotropis) milk, cow urine, Lodhra (Symplocos) decoction, Safed Musli (Chlorophytum borivilianum) decoction, Gokhru decoction, Kauch decoction, banana stem juice, Talmakhana (Asteracantha longifolia) decoction, Aloe Vera juice, and Banyan bark decoction. After grinding these with 3 infusions of each herb, tablets are made, dried in the sun, and given Gajaput Agni. Repeating the process after each infusion results in 42 puffs of purified Abhrak Bhasma.

Dosage and Usage— Same as per the first method.

Fourth Method— (20 Puffs):

Pure Dhanyabhrak is processed with Karonda (Carissa carandas) juice, made into small tablets, dried in the sun, and subjected to Gajaput Agni. After 10 puffs, it is further processed with Aak (Calotropis) yellow leaf juice and Banyan sprouts decoction for an additional 7 puffs, resulting in highly purified 20 puffs of Abhrak Bhasma.

Dosage and Usage— Same as per the first method.

Fifth Method—:

According to Ayurvedic texts, Abhrak is purified by soaking in Aak milk (or leaf juice in its absence) for 12 hours, making small tablets, drying them in the sun, and giving 1 Gajaput Agni. This results in a high-quality, impurity-free bhasma.

Note— The bhasma should not be used until the lustrous particles of mica are completely eliminated.

Dosage, Anupana, and Usage— Same as per the first method.

More Details Of Mica Ash For Many illness

Mica Ash is an exceptional medicine, known for its ability to eliminate all diseases and balance the three doshas. This potent remedy enhances semen, longevity, strength, intelligence, and radiance. It fortifies the body, making it resilient and stable, while also alleviating suffering and prolonging life. Mica is praised for its palatability, mildness, cooling effect, intelligence, aliphatic nature, chemical properties, illumination, receptiveness, and excellent antiseptic qualities. The ash of mica, known as Mica Truth, is particularly noteworthy for its medicinal properties.

Moreover, Mica Ash cuts through impurities, as even mercury placed on a high flame cannot evaporate when combined with it. The ash of Abhrapatra is recognized for its healing properties, and the ash of Satva strengthens the body. When crafted as soft ash of sattva, it not only wards off death but also has the power to transform inferior metals into gold, thus eliminating poverty.

Administering Abharak Bhasma, along with Coral and Sitopaladi powder, to pregnant women for 3-4 months strengthens and fortifies the womb.

Remarkably, patients suffering from advanced tuberculosis, who have lost all hope and have been turned away by doctors, have regained complete health through the combination of Sahru Puti Adhak, Survan Bhasma, and Chyawanprashavleh.

Mica Bhasma acts as a tonic, revitalizer, and sedative for the brain, respiratory system, lungs, heart, and muscles. It is particularly beneficial for conditions related to excessive Kapha and Vata doshas, as well as impurities in the bodily fluids, blood, flesh, and bones. When consumed with honey, Mica Bhasma rapidly aids in metal nutrition and absorption, enhancing the body’s overall health.

The primary functions of Mica Bhasma include liquefying chitra-atoms, strengthening motor senses, improving their functions, and providing essential nutrients. Additionally, it reduces swelling in the respiratory nerves, alleviates nervous and sensory weakness, stimulates vital organs, and enhances overall sensory efficiency.

Abhrak Bhasma, known for its Yogavaahi properties, enhances the effects of other medicines without interfering with their qualities. It also corrects any defects in combined medicines, amplifying their effectiveness. These attributes make mica a vital component in various medicinal combinations, ensuring the success of all mica-related treatments.

Mica is especially effective in treating diseases where physical components and atoms weaken, leading to diminished sensory power and efficiency. In cases of atrophy where components have weakened or decayed, mica proves to be a powerful remedy. Those suffering from conditions like tuberculosis, characterized by apathy and fluctuating energy levels, often find relief and rejuvenation when treated with mica, resulting in stronger nerves, senses, and overall health.

In cases where any sensory organ lacks proper nutrition, it becomes weak. The body’s physical atoms continuously strive to absorb essential fluids and juices. When these are deficient, the senses weaken. The solution lies in administering medicines that enhance the vigor and sharpness of vital fluids like semen, juice, and blood. Nabhrak Bhasma, when consumed, energizes physical atoms, making them stronger within days. This approach restores the strength of weakened nerves, which is considered true treatment.

Abhrak Bhasma gradually strengthens the mind’s liquid components, reducing the weakness of the axillary vessels. This treatment also alleviates irritability caused by epilepsy and other conditions. In chronic insomnia and mania, where the patient is listless, fearful, weak, and anxious, with impaired memory, consuming Rakshak Bhasma for a few weeks revitalizes the senses and cures the disease. In old age, where blood vessels and mental faculties deteriorate, combining Adhak Bhasma with palliative medicine proves beneficial.

For children with delayed cognitive development, increased stupidity, dryness, weakness, speech or walking difficulties, and excessive drooling, mica ash offers significant benefits. If a child is born to parents who have suffered from Upadesh disease, a combination of mica ash and sulfur chemical (first method) is recommended. For frequent vomiting, a mixture of Pravalpishthi and Giloyastva is effective. In cases of excessive Kapha disorder, combining Mandoor Bhasma with Shringa Bhasma and Kapha deficiency remedies is beneficial.

Childhood disorders often arise from inadequate brain development, leading to difficulties in walking, speaking, and controlling limbs. Administering Adhak Bhasma, either alone or in combination with other supportive medicines, promotes healthy development. Mica’s chemical properties facilitate the metal-nutrition sequence, making it effective in treating chronic and acute diseases like anemia, blood bile disorders, and acidity.

In young women suffering from rickets, anemia, fever, pallor, and voice changes due to red blood cell deficiency and mental anxiety, a mixture of mica and iron effectively cures these conditions in a matter of days. If mental anxiety is the root cause, or if the issue stems from frequent bleeding during bowel movements, mica’s strengthening properties prove beneficial. It reduces intestinal weakness, alleviating the burden on the anus and curing the disease. However, if the condition is due to increased blood pressure near the liver, mica alone may not be effective. In such cases, a purgative or blood pressure-lowering treatment should be considered.

Chronic hemorrhages can occur frequently, leading to persistent blood loss. To address this issue, Abhrak Bhasma Ghadit medicine is highly effective. While mica does not eliminate warts, it significantly reduces bleeding and prevents the body from becoming weak.

Post-surgery complications, such as fistulas or vascular ulcers, are common after wart removal. During such times, the consumption of Abhrak Bhasma is particularly helpful in healing ulcers. Abhrak Bhasma is considered the best medicine for maintaining physical strength and promoting ulcer healing in chronic ulcer diseases.

When lung weakness leads to cough disorders or when the heart weakens due to stroke, mental anxiety, prolonged fever, or other reasons, Abhrak Bhasma stands out as the most effective remedy for strengthening the lungs and heart. In any disease where the power of speech has diminished, Mica Bhasma proves beneficial, especially in cases where reluctance, rather than disability, is the issue. For such vocal challenges, Jasad Bhasma should be administered.

In Ayurveda, Mica Bhasma, combined with Shringa Bhasma and Giloyasatva, effectively treats Nirjantuk, Anulom, and Pratiloma decay. This combination improves molecular formation, eliminating component loss. However, in modern times, mica ash is not widely used in all stages of bacterial decay. In the early stages, when fever is low, mica ash is undoubtedly beneficial. By strengthening the lungs and other body components, it halts the progression of tuberculosis.

For chronic phlegm, persistent cough, phlegmatic breathing, and conditions where the respiratory tubes are distorted, resulting in white, smooth phlegm and extreme weakness, Mica Ash combined with honey, Peepal, and Kaphadhna Anupan effectively cures the disease.

Elderly and weak individuals often experience breathing problems during the rainy season or under cloud cover in winter. In these cases, sitting forthright eases breathing. Mica Bhasma is incredibly beneficial for these conditions.

Women suffering from Pandu(Anemia), experiencing extreme nervousness and breathing difficulties due to respiratory tract constriction, find relief with Mica Bhasma. When cold or hot medicines are intolerable, Mica Bhasma excels in expanding respiratory vessels and soothing bile. Additional supportive medicines include Rudravanti, Shilajit, and Chandraprabha. For fecal purification, Arogyavardhini is recommended. In all these cases, consuming mica repeatedly with honey helps prevent chronic defects or temperament issues.

When heart weakness causes breathlessness with minimal exertion, accompanied by a weak, slow, or irregular pulse, Mica Bhasma restores health. If the blood vessel walls have thinned, leading to blood accumulation, mica is beneficial in treating this disorder and its related conditions.

If the disease stems from syphilis, administering Anupan Anantmool’s Avaleh or a blood-purifying Arishta or decoction is highly effective. In cases of pneumonia, when combined with cinnamon, Abhrak Bhasma eradicates the harmful germs responsible for the illness. Additionally, when taken with iron ash, it increases blood cells, making it particularly beneficial in treating Pandu disease. A mixture of mica ash, iron ash, Triphala, and honey is often prescribed.

Abhrak Bhasma acts as a heart stimulant, though not as potent as Kuchila or Camphor. However, Abhrak Bhasma strengthens the nervous components of the heart, providing significant benefits in inflammatory diseases related to heart disorders.

When the stomach and bile-producing organs are weakened, leading to improper bile production, indigestion, and dyspepsia, Abhrak Bhasma effectively strengthens these organs, helping to cure the disease. In cases of anorexia, where even tasty food seems unappetizing due to abdominal distension and weakness, this remedy proves beneficial.

After illnesses like tuberculosis, jaundice, or prolonged fever, loss of appetite often follows. Abhrak Bhasma is beneficial in restoring appetite. For chronic acidity, where other medicines like Sutshekhar have failed, and symptoms like nausea, stomach pain, and vomiting blood occur without cancer, Mica Bhasma can improve the condition.

If vomiting occurs after meals, combining Mica Bhasma with Vanga Bhasma is effective. For diarrhea related to tuberculosis, mica ash mixed with Mukta-pishti, conch shell Bhasma, and Varatika Bhasma is given with Ghrit. In cases of long-standing painful diarrhea due to intestinal weakness, where frequent loose, foamy stools and weakened intestinal strength are present, a combination of Mica Bhasma, Varatika Bhasma, dry ginger powder, and ghee (or honey) is beneficial.

For chronic duodenal disease, where ulcers form in various parts of the intestine, and frequent bleeding occurs, Mica Bhasma should be used along with crusts. When the juice ducts and juice-producing organs in the stomach are deformed, leading to enlarged abdominal glands, intermittent colic, mild fever, constipation, and indigestion, Mica Ash is highly beneficial.

In cases of stool obstruction due to weakness of the small and large intestines, where foul-smelling stool, blood disorders, boils, and circles of contaminated blood are present, Mica Ash serves as an effective blood purifier. If bladder weakness causes frequent urination, urine dripping, or blood in the urine, and rickets has become chronic, Mica Bhasma strengthens the bladder. Mica can also be used in treating diabetes when combined with Shilajit and Jamun.

When used consistently with kernel, it maintains potency, gradually reduces the severity of the disease, and, in many cases, suppresses the condition entirely.

Mica Bhasma is also effective in treating impotence caused by airway weakness or mental trauma. It addresses impotence by strengthening the nerves, genitals, and trachea centers.

The presence of Yogvaahi in mica ash allows its action to be adjusted based on the mixed liquid. For instance, in Lakshmi Vilas Ras (an anti-deficiency and nutritious chemical), the combination of drugs like Karpura provides fast and effective relief. Meanwhile, in Arogyavardhini, which contains copper, the properties manifest gradually. Lakshmi Vilas stimulates action, while Arogyavardhani focuses on removing weak components and preparing new, stronger ones, with Mica Bhasma playing a pivotal role in both.

Abhrak Bhasma is most effective for Kafkasa, though it is not recommended for dry cough. In cases where the pulmonary system and alveoli are weak, phlegm accumulates, causing dryness in the throat, persistent dry phlegm, and difficulty in expectoration, Mica Ash provides relief

Alzheimer ,Epilepsy, Insanity, Memory Loss, and Mental Confusion

Elderly person with memory loss, receiving holistic care from Panaceayur for cognitive health and rejuvenation.
Rediscovering the strength within: Battling memory loss with patience, care, and the power of holistic healing.”

In conditions like Alzheimer ,epilepsy, insanity, memory loss, and mental confusion, the mental faculties often weaken, leading to impaired absorption of essential nutrients from metals such as juice. This deficiency causes these disorders to manifest. If the mental system receives full nourishment, these conditions can be effectively cured. However, current treatments often focus on palliative care, merely relieving symptoms like air vessel irritation, without addressing the root cause. To achieve better results, treatments should target these underlying elements.

In Ayurveda, conditions like Alzheimer’s, epilepsy, insanity, memory loss, and mental confusion are often attributed to an imbalance in the body’s Doshas—particularly Vata. When Vata becomes aggravated, it can cause disturbances in the mind and nervous system, leading to the deterioration of mental faculties. This imbalance disrupts the Agni (digestive fire), impairing the body’s ability to absorb essential nutrients, including those derived from metals and minerals used in Rasayana therapy (rejuvenation treatments). In Ayurveda, the mind and body are deeply connected, and nourishing the brain with the right herbs, minerals, and therapies is crucial for mental clarity and stability.

Root Cause According to Ayurveda:

In Ayurveda, these mental disorders are not just seen as brain-specific issues but as conditions caused by an underlying weakness in the mind-body system. When the body’s ability to absorb nutrients (especially those from vital substances like metals such as gold, silver, mica (Abhrak), and others used in bhasmas) is compromised, it leads to deficiencies that manifest as mental imbalances.

Vata imbalance is often the root cause of such conditions. When Vata (the energy responsible for movement and communication) is aggravated, it affects the brain’s functions, causing issues such as memory loss, confusion, and even more severe disorders like epilepsy and insanity. Additionally, the brain and nervous system require adequate nourishment from herbs, minerals, and medicinal bhasmas to function properly.

Nourishment through Rasayana Therapy:

Rasayanas are Ayurvedic rejuvenation therapies aimed at nourishing and revitalizing the body and mind. They are particularly useful in reversing mental and physical degeneration. In mental health disorders, Ayurvedic remedies focus on restoring balance by using medicinal herbs and metals that can replenish the nutrients and support the brain.

Abhrak Bhasma (Mica Ash): Used to nourish the brain and improve mental faculties, promoting sharp memory, clarity, and calmness.

Swarn Bhasma (Gold Ash): Believed to enhance cognitive function, strengthen the nervous system, and rejuvenate the body.

Mukta Pishti (Pearl) and Praval Pishti (Coral): These are used to calm the mind, relieve stress, and address symptoms of insanity and epilepsy.

Brahmi (Bacopa monnieri) and Shankhpushpi: These herbs are highly effective in boosting memory, promoting mental clarity, and calming the nervous system.

Current Approaches vs. Ayurvedic Treatment:

Modern treatments for disorders like Alzheimer’s, epilepsy, and memory loss primarily focus on palliative care, offering short-term relief for symptoms such as air vessel irritation or cognitive dysfunction without addressing the root cause of the imbalance. These treatments may help manage symptoms like restlessness or memory decline, but they do not replenish the vital nutrients needed by the mental system.

In contrast, Ayurveda takes a holistic approach, aiming to address the root cause by nourishing the brain and nervous system. Ayurvedic therapies focus on restoring balance through herbal treatments, mineral-rich bhasmas, lifestyle changes, and mental detoxification techniques, such as Panchakarma. By addressing the underlying nutrient deficiency and correcting Vata imbalance, Ayurveda offers a pathway to long-term healing rather than temporary symptom management.
